91.4x91.4 cm ~ Painting, Acrylic, Ink, Pastel
"کوردستان" is a 36x36 inch abstract acrylic painting on canvas. I built up the layers with multiple colors, then cut into them repeatedly with an X-Acto knife. I filled in the cuts with ink, oil pastels, and more acrylics. Finally, I sealed it all with a gloss varnish. The painting is a vibrant explosion of color and texture, reflecting the energy and complexity of Kurdistan. The bold colors and dynamic forms aim to capture the spirit of the Kurdish people and their ongoing struggle for self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. The painting is a visual representation of the Kurdish identity, a testament to their resilience and a hope for a future where they can freely exercise their right to self-governance.
